Renewable Energy Bill SB 459 (ACT 141)passed unanimosly in the Assembly, goes to the Governor for signature.

Text of Bill

This bill does all of the following:
1) makes changes to the “public benefits program”;
2) makes changes to renewable energy requirements that apply to electric utilities and cooperatives;
3) creates requirements for certain state agencies to generate or purchase renewable energy;
4) imposes energy efficiency standards on certain state contracts;
5) makes changes to the state energy conservation code; and
6) requires a funding request for anaerobic digestor research.

This information was compiled in the draft Strategic Energy Assessment – Energy 2010. The purpose of this document is to evaluate the adequacy and reliability of the state’s current and future electrical supply."
