How does RENEW put membership dollars to work?

Port of Milwaukee wind turbineThe Port of Milwaukee wind turbine, commissioned in February 2012, was funded in part by a $100,000 Focus on Energy grant. Learn more about this project on the RENEW blog.

RENEW uses our Membership Donations to support our key initiatives. As one example, for the past 5 years we have continuously advocated for renewable energy funding for Focus on Energy, Wisconsin's statewide energy efficiency and renewable energy program.

Our advocacy in 2014 included participating in the official four-year plan for Focus on Energy funding for 2015-2018, and resulted in at least $8.5 million in incentives, a new $10 million revolving loan fund, and $6.3 million for small-farm digesters.

In 2011 and 2012 we organized our members in response to a renewable energy funding holdup, and in 2013 directed over 630 comments into the PSC in support rebates for wind, solar, biogas, and geothermal projects. This advocacy helped set the stage for the funding victory in 2014.
